Walking Dead Minimates Michonne & Hitchhiker

Continuing our look at the TRU exclusive Series 5 Walking Dead Minimates, we’re opening up Riot Gear Michonne and Hitchhiker Zombie

 

 

We’ve seen the Riot Gear twice already and at first glance there’s nothing really new here.

 

 

Underneath the Riot Gear we have the same type of shirt, but this time there’s female curves shown off. Michonne also has a hair piece for those times you go helmet-less.

 

Like I previously said, this is the same Riot Gear we’ve gotten three times now. This does start to give us an army builder look, but I think in total, I only needed one, maybe two figures with this gear to be happy.

 

A very nice addition to this Michonne is the spare torso block and arms so you can have a tank top look instead of full Riot Gear.

 

There seems to be an odd color issue with the torso though. For some reason, the skin tone on the front and back is darker than the skin tone used on the rest of the figure. It’s only on the front and back though as the top and sides of the torso matches the arm skin tone perfectly.

 

Michonne comes with her trusty sword and a pistol which loosely fits in the holster on the belt.

 

While I wasn’t personally clamoring to get another Michonne, let alone another Riot Gear figure, the inclusion of the tank top torso and bare arms, make this figure different enough that I don’t feel like I’m buying something I could have pieced together from previous sets.

 

 

This marks the 4th Michonne Minimate we’ve gotten so far and while every face is actually different, we’ve only gotten maybe two emotions to choose from, but this is Michonne we’re talking about here 🙂

 

The Hitchhiker Zombie is the more colorful figure in this pack. We’ve got some nice reused parts here with the exposed hip and padded vest.

 

 

 

I really like the face on this figure, I think the glasses add a distinctiveness you don’t always see with the Zombies.

 

This is my favorite figure from the set and possibly one of my top 5 Zombies from this line. However, there is one issue that kinda bugs me about this figure………

 

…It reminds me a little too much of Marty McFly! I think if either the vest or the shirt were another color, I probably wouldn’t see this connection as well (I certainly didn’t see it when Wolverine used this same vest in Tan)

 

So that’s Riot Gear Michonne and Hitchhiker Zombie. I liked the Zombie more than I thought I would and because I’m not a big fan of the Riot Gear, Michonne will be permanently displayed with the Tank Top on. Kudos to DST for giving us that choice, it really made a repeated figure feel different from it’s past releases.
