I don't know if it's the upcoming Supergirl TV series or not, but I got to thinking about Supergirl, and not the current one, or any of the variety of ways DC writers have tried to resurrect her over the decades, but the original, Pre-Crisis Supergirl. Since it's also been a while since we've done a Needless Character Analysis, it seems like a good time to do another one.
The big storyline that re-introduces the Legion of Super-Heroes to readers arrived in shops today. For a story that started off very rocky, it seems to have wrapped up nicely, especially for Legion fans. It's not perfect but what comics today are? Oh yeah. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Wow, it has been a while since we posted any cosplay images and for that we apologize. We felt today was a great day to showcase Supergirl! With the news of the first images of Supergirl hitting this week, we felt the timing was perfect. Now before we begin take note:
When I first heard the news of a pending Supergirl television show I was frightened and excited at the same time. I wanted this character done right and I wanted the studio to avoid a cheesy take on this character. The Studio has released a few images showcasing the lovely Melissa Benoist in the Supergirl costume and most of m fears have been laid to rest! Not only is this costume awesome, it pays perfect homage to the character in modern form. Now we still have to wait for the pilot to hit, but if the show is as good as the costume then we should be okay.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #303 September 1983 Unashamedly, I am a huge fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The period that I first fell in love with the Legion was about the same time a lot of people did, the period around 1983-1984 when Legion of Super-Heroes became DC's second best-selling title, right behind New Teen Titans. This issue comes from that period, almost smack in the middle of the Great Darkness Saga and the launch of the Legion's Baxter series. I decided to go forward with this review after this site featured the excellent cosplay of Badluck Kitty as Supergirl. I had already started it but planned to finish it at a later date, as I'm in the middle of moving. SYNOPSIS: On Weber's World, The Emerald Empress and a Dark Circle sympathizer Ontiir have captured and immobilized a team of Legionnaires, Shrinking Violet, Colossal Boy, Sun Boy, Brainiac 5 and Supergirl. The empress tortures the Legionnaires, breaking Sun Boy's jaw in the process. The Empress orders their execution. At Legion HQ, reservists Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel are left manning the monitor board as the remaining active Legionnaires take the new Legion cruisers to Karate Kid and Queen Projectra's wedding. On the cruisers, Timber Wolf takes the opportunity to sulk at the communication console, confusing Blok, who is still not completely versed on human emotions, as noted by Shadow Lass and Phantom Girl, in a very catty fashion.
Square Enix revealed images for their next Play Arts Kai DC Variant Figure, Supergirl. Just like the other releases, these are artist inspired interpretations and each has a significant amount of Japaneses influence in the designs. On a more personal level I really like what Square Enix is doing with these DC Universe characters and I hope to see more. Check out the pics after the jump!
A few days ago we posted a teaser for a new Supergirl statue. We now have all the images for this release. Click on through if you want to see Kal-El in all her glory! More after the jump!
