Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #7 – Review

It's a long wait between issues in the Archie Horror line, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is no exception. If there is one rule in comics, it's that if you're going to make your readers wait, then it better be worth it. So far, Sabrina has been worth it, but it seems to moving very slow. Last issue promised the return of Sabrina's father, this issue delivers his story.

Archie just sent us a press release promoting the next issue of Black Hood, with special guest artist Robert Hack. Hack is best known for his work on Afterlife With Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Hack's style seems like a great fit for the dark crimefighter series from Archie's Dark Circle imprint.

Vampirella 1969: Preview

Dynamite just added another book to their releases for this week, Vampirella 1969. Even through all of the changes in the industry, Vampirella remains one of the most iconic female characters around. Her resurgence in 1991 heralded the rise of the bad girl craze in American comics, of which she is one of the handful of characters to survive. Dynamite's handling of the character since 2010 has honored her past, as well as progressing her story forward.

Archie Comics keeps doing a better and better job of updating their line of comics. It all started with Afterlife With Archie. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina continues this trend of taking old characters and updating them. We've yet to see the two books crossover, but it's beginning to look like a matter of time before it happens.

It's been a while since the first issue, but when I saw the preview copy arrive for the second, I was certain to sit down and read it right away. I'm hoping that the Archie Horror line sticks around, but dread the inevitable Josie and the Pussycats title, although if they do it, I'm betting on some type of were-cats.
