Lady Killer 2 arrives in comic shops next month and we got an early preview from Dark Horse. I will admit that I squealed a little when I saw the e-mail in my inbox. The first series was among the best comics of 2015, so the sequel was eagerly awaited by me, and I'm certain many other fans of good comics.
Until we get to read the issue later tonight, we wanted to share the preview Dark Horse sent us of Lady Killer 2 #1, once again by Joëlle Jones. The last day for your local comic shop to order it is July 11, so let them know that you want a copy. Can you tell we're excited? In the meantime, check out this preview from Dark Horse.
One of the series that really impressed us last year was Lady Killer, published by Dark Horse. Joëlle Jones' work on the series impressed us so much we named her in one of our Artist Spotlights. The story of a 1960s housewife who has a secret profession as an assassin was one that captured the attention of so many people, and garnered award nominations. A sequel was announced at San Diego Comic Con, but there wasn't an official date or artwork given for the new series.
Seriously, if you're not reading Lady Killer, you totally should be. On top of being a fantastic artist, Joëlle Jones is also working with Jamie S. Rich on writing a great story. She lives in Portland, home of many great comic artists. Lady Killer is the latest work of hers to catch eyes, but she's also worked on You Have Killed Me with her Lady Killer partner Jamie S. Rich, HELHEIM, and as you can see below, a little bit about a little known character named Superman for Adventures of Superman. Check out the gallery for more and click on the images source links to see more from this fantastic artist.
We've not made it a habit here of reviewing entire series, but some things keep our attention to the point where we'll review past the first issue. One of those books is Lady Killer, about a contract killer in the early 1960s who hides her double life from her husband, family and neighbors.

The splash of green keeps the foreground as the focus despite how much she is challenged by the blue-haired girl in roller skates. The characters obviously set a mood for the series, demanding attention in a way that displays youthful irreverence. (Image Source: BOOM! Studios)
