Star Wars Episode VIII Has A Release Date and Rogue One Coming Next Year

Today was a busy day for the Star Wars film juggernaut. Disney has released info for both Star Wars EP VIII & the first stand alone film; Rogue One! Disney has established a set schedule for the Star Wars films and they will alternate years: this year it’s Episode VII; 2016 will be Rogue One; 2017 will be Episode VIII, and so forth. Rogue One will focus on the famed Star Wars X-Wing Squadron and will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) with a screenplay penned by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy).

The best news of the day centers around EP VIII. Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson, whom will also write this film. The franchise returns to the tradition of Star Wars films being released in May with its expected release date of May 26, 2017! Heck yeah!! Star Wars is coming back to May!

What does all this mean? Tons and tons of collectibles and action figures. I am sure Hasbro went into full panic mode with this news today and I must say I am thrilled!! More to come and just think……we have another Sta Wars film coming next year and the next, and the next and the next…….
