Power Rangers Movie Toys at ToyFair

The latest stuff for March’s Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film is the normal fare with a couple excellent treats in store.

The photos (courtesy of Tokunation and Morphin Legacy) are not as plentiful but do detail some fun toys in store (pun intended).

First, the movie Rangers will be getting an updated style “Auto-Morphin” Ranger figure. All five will be released with this feature I don’t believe Bandai has done since the days of “Time Force”.

Still looks like Johnny Yong Bosch.

Last year’s Legacy Red Ranger helmet will be joined this year by a Movie style Red and Pink Ranger helmet. It’s fully enclosed and wearable, same 1:1 scale that the Legacy Red helmet was. The fact that they are releasing a Pink Ranger helmet is a hopeful indicator of Bandai taking a notice of the female fan base that Power Rangers enjoys.

If you look closely, you can actually see Tzachor’s skull sitting within.

Bandai and Saban are definitely in love with the movie Power coins as we are getting a legacy coin release to go along with the Legacy Season 3/ original movie coins (due the fall of this year). It is odd that they would be foreshadowing the move to the Zeo powers so quickly though. The coin box does come with a light up function to illuminate the dinosaur within the coin.

Tokunation paid top dollar to have their name in the case.

Lastly, the biggest release information by far. The movie “Then and Now” two packs are growing. Yes, Rita Repulsa is joining the five rangers in the Wal-Mart exclusive sub-line. This makes me happier than anything as I have been hoping for a decent Rita figure for near 25 years. She’ll be in the 5” scale and will be right at home next to Legacy Lord Zedd and Ivan Ooze.

The Beatles named a song after her.

As if that weren’t enough, the rumor around the web is that she will be joined  by a “Then and Now” Alpha 5 and Putty Patroller, but that’s just rumor and innuendo.

Here’s hoping for a T&N Goldar because the great Golden Ape Dog needs a modern mold release with current tooling.

I’ll even take Kilokahn here if they feel like crossover theft.

2017 is shaping up to be a banner year for Saban brands and Bandai, here’s hoping it truly is.
