Mel Rivera: Artist Of The Week

I learned about the art of Mel Rivera at last weekend’s Charlotte Comicon. The nice thing about smaller conventions like Charlotte Comicon is that you can walk by and find artists that you didn’t know were out there. Mel was sitting there at a table in Artists Alley with a couple of binders for people to flip through showing off his pencil portraits of super-heroes and super-villains.

I spoke with him a little as he showed me what he had prints of and in which sizes they were available. He had just finished a Batman drawing based on the armor from Batman V Superman, and was very proud of it. He has every reason to be proud of his work. One that really caught my eye was an Iron Man drawing that really captured the reflective nature of his gold armor. If you go to his Facebook page, you’ll get an idea of what I mean. Afterwards, you will probably want to contact him about either a commission or how to get some prints of his work.

Taken from his Facebook page, here is a gallery of just some of Mel Rivera’s work.
