First Look at Vampironica #1

Megan and Greg Smallwood are behind the latest addition to Archie’s Horror line, Vampironica.  In this story, Veronica becomes a vampire and has to deal with a monster invasion of Riverdale. Fans of Greg Smallwood’s art for Marvel should love this book, as the art is the great quality you’ve come to expect from him. The book looks gorgeous. Of course, there’s variant covers, including one from Archie Horror’s founding artist Franco Fancavilla, “regular” Archie artist Audrey Mok, and two others by Marguerite Sauvage and a wonderful red and blue cover by Diibril Morrissette Phan. For me, though, the best of the bunch is Greg Smallwood’s cover, which features a wonderfully classic three-color theme, consisting of violet, green and a golden yellow. It’s absolutely bautiful and adequately sets expectations for the quality of art inside.

Check out the preview art and check back closer to Vampironica’s March 14 release date for a full review and of course, preview pages with text.

Oh! I almost forgot! Be certain to let your local comic shop know to order you a copy before February 19. That’s the order cutoff date for Vampironica #1.
