Fighting American #1 Preview

Let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room. Titan Comics, a British publisher is publishing the Simon & Kirby creation Fighting American. However, if the comic is good, I don’t mind who the publisher is. That brings the question to bear, is this version of Fighting American any good?

Before I share the preview that Titan sent us, a little overview before anyone thinks that this was just a ripoff of Captain America. Sure, there are parallels, especially since it was created by the guys responsible for Captain America in 1941. Fighting American debuted in 1954 after Timely Comics announced a relaunched Captain America. The intention was for Simon and Kirby to show Timely how to do Captain America by creating their own commie-smashing superhero, although it was also an influence of the time, with the Cold War communist witch hunts of the 1950s. Fighting American was creator-owned, and thus, over time has been published by Prize Group, Harvey Comics, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Awesome Entertainment, and now, Titan Comics.
