Greetings Needless Essential Friends and Family. I volunteered to track the latest news on when our most anticipated movies will finally be released post lock down. I hope to update this article weekly. (Unless there is no news to share of course.) Let us know in the comments if I missed a movie you think
Director Matt Reeves recently released images of the new Batmobile from Robert Pattinson’s upcoming Batman movie due out June 25th, 2021… and folks, it looks Amazing. The super crazy futuristic Batmobiles of recent movies gone by, are taking a back seat to a much more “realistic” looking tricked-out muscle car. The word on the street
With Crisis On Infinite Earths, CW is getting me to watch their slate of shows again. I have fallen behind, having found many of the episodes hackneyed and stretching out stories. Too many times, the overarching plot gets in the way of telling a good story in an hour's time. This is one of those cases where the story is big enough to demand that kind of storytelling.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently did an interview with Rolling Stone and said something that a lot of comic fans can take issue with. Regarding the future of the franchise, Kennedy said, "There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels." She added, "We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be." Well, here's four comics they could use.
I should apologize for not getting a review up sooner. I just couldn't get to see it until it had been out a week. Nevertheless, I went to see one of the most talked about comic book films this month.
Sunday night, Oct 6, saw the debut of Batwoman, the latest entry into producer Greg Berlanti's Arrowverse. There's been a lot of hope for this series, especially among those excited to see a LGBTQ superhero television show with a LGBT lead. However, now that it has delivered, is it any good?
Source: The Hollywood Reporter It was a surprising bit of casting news about CW's new addition to the Arrowverse, just days before the show debuts. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow will join the cast in a voice-only role as Gotham talk radio host Vesper Fairchild. Maddow, a comic book fan (source), had previously written the introduction to Greg Rucka's Batwoman collection Elegy.
I took in Avengers: Endgame at 7AM on Friday Morning. I think it just might be the closest that I've come to seeing a movie on opening night in a long time. While there's going to be spoilers later on in this review, I'm going to start off spoiler-free, then there'll be spoilers a plenty, if you've seen the film or want to go that far.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a ripe playground for Internet articles about theories and lists. I've even done my own list in the past of characters I want to see get the MCU treatment. With the merger of Fox and Disney paving the way, we even have Fantastic Four and X-Men to hope to see someday. I also am in need of something to kick start me writing again, as I've had trouble keeping motivated. When I don't see anything new in comics really grabbing my interest, it gets easy to be disillusioned. The Marvel Cinematic Universe routinely impresses me. Therefore, I'm using it for yet another list among the many out there. This one is on characters that I want to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The latest trailer for Captain Marvel dropped during Monday Night Football, and it gives us more than we've seen so far of the Kree-Skrull War. We also get context for the scene where Carol punches the old woman on the bus.
It was announced that there will be no Daredevil Season 4 on Netflix. This follows previous announcements that Luke Cage and Iron Fist wouldn't get third seasons, and there would be no second season for the crossover of all four shows, the Defenders. It also follows the plans Disney has for its own streaming service, expected to capitalize on its ownership of Marvel, with the development of new series based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
