There's one thing Dark Horse does well, it's art books, so The Art of ReCore looks interesting. I'm not a gamer, but I am an artist, and seeing the process of designing the world a video game is set in, and its characters makes me happy.
Michael Martens, who has been Dark Horse's VP of Book Trade is leaving the company after 22 years. In the Book Trade, Dark Horse is one of the industry leaders, and most of that credit goes to Michael Martens. He also gets the credit for the increased presence of graphic novels in libraries across the country.
One of the series that really impressed us last year was Lady Killer, published by Dark Horse. Joëlle Jones' work on the series impressed us so much we named her in one of our Artist Spotlights. The story of a 1960s housewife who has a secret profession as an assassin was one that captured the attention of so many people, and garnered award nominations. A sequel was announced at San Diego Comic Con, but there wasn't an official date or artwork given for the new series.
When we got Mae #1 by Gene Ha in our e-mail, I was thrilled. I've long been a fan of his work and the chance to see him work on a personal project excites me to no end. It looks to be the right kind of comic for female readers, but should also appeal to anyone that fondly remembers Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld, likes fantastic, naturalistic comic art, or fans of great storytelling in comics. If you want to get a copy of this book, the final order cutoff is April 25. Otherwise, look for it in better comic shops on May 18. Until we can properly review the book, here's a preview of it.

Dark Horse has sent us an advance copy of The Shadow Glass #1 to review back in February, but we couldn't publish a review until March 4th, but things got a little busy and time slipped away from us. The preview looked so nice, I had to read the book and give it a try. Does it warrant you doing the same?
