Wandering Island By Kenji Tsuruta Coming From Dark Horse
Manga artist Kenji Tsuruta hasn’t had new original work published in twenty years. Now the creator of the acclaimed manga Spirit of Wonder has a new story, published in the US by Dark Horse.
Wandering Island is described by Dark Horse as a retro flying adventure in the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke). If features Mikura Amelia, a free-spirited young woman who lives alone with her cat and operates an air delivery service. She flies her vintage seaplane to small island communities located hundreds of miles out in the Pacific. When her grandfather passes away, he leaves her an undelivered package, addressed to an island that supposedly doesn’t exist. She flies off in search of the truth behind the Wandering Island.
This special edition from Dark Horse will feature eight color pages and an extended wraparound cover with French flaps. It arrives in shops on July 6, 2016. Ask your local comic shop to order you a copy or preorder from online retailers like Barnes & Noble or Amazon.
(Note: Clicking the link to Amazon lets you pre-order the book through Needless Essentials’ affiliate service, which benefits us, albeit in a very small way, directly. As always, we recommend going to your local comic shop first.)
