Walking Dead Variant Cover Announced For 150th Issue
In sharing a press release about a new Walking Dead variant cover, Image Comics has shown a little sense of humor about how variant covers work. The new variant cover featuring only the black and white artork from Charlie Adlard’s regular cover will go to any retailer that orders at least zero copies of The Walking Dead #150. Yes, every retailer will get a copy of this variant cover.
Image Comics has been very vocal about variant covers in the past year, making an announcement that appeared that they were going to stop variant covers altogether, but instead stopped offering retailer exclusive variants. All the same, the number of variant covers is relatively low compared to publishers like Marvel, DC, Titan and Dynamite, to name a few. This new variant is the sixth for the milestone issue from Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment house at Image Comics. The regular cover is by Adlard & Stewart, with a sketch variant and now the black and white “retailer appreciation variant.” There is a variant cover by Southern Bastards artist and co-creator Jason Latour, a variant cover by the series’ first artist Tony Moore and a variant cover by Invincible artist Ryan Ottley.
The Walking Dead #150 will hit your local comic book shop on January 13th.
