Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Alright, guys. With The Last Jedi just around the corner, I am getting hyped. So much so that I have gone back and watched the previous films and played some of my favorite Star Wars games while I wait patiently for the new movie to arrive. It almost slipped my mind that Battlefront 2 comes out this week. I got my copy a little early and plowed through the new cannon (yes, confirmed cannon) story so I could tell you guys how I felt.
Your only warning is now. Where I will try to keep this spoiler free, I will be talking about how this connects to the film universe which could be seen as a spoiler.
You will primarily play as a new character, Iden Versio, a member of Inferno Squad. This squad is a small three-man black ops team for the empire. The story covers the gap between episode 6 and 7 starting with witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star from Endor and ending with Kylo Ren getting the location of the map piece that lead to the opening of episode 7. Needless to say, there is a lot of cool events through out the story of this game. One of my favorite being the battle of Jakku.
The story was very well written however was only ok when it came to the voice talent. Sometimes the voice acting was great and others… well, not so great. Unfortunately, that took me out of the immersion from time to time. It would have been much better if Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford reprised their role. Their time in the story, where brief, made it very hard to believe that I was actually playing as Luke or Han during that section of the game.
Ok so now that we are past that, the story as a whole was very fun, interesting, and a morally challenging one. Star Wars Battlefront 2 has earned the right be in the cannon Star Wars universe. Overall, I give it a solid 7.5/10
