The pending liquidation of Toys R Us has been delayed. A court junction was issued yesterday stalling the sales. Reports are circling that vendors are requesting their merchandise back due to a lack of payment AND stores did not receive the proper signage. We were told that the sales could start as early as Friday or be completely moved to a different date. Information was also relaid that the bid to save some of the stores has failed.
With the news of the demise of Toys R Us still very fresh, we have something really exciting to announce; the return of KB Toys!! Yes you read that right, KB Toys is coming back! How is this possible you might ask? Ellia Kassoff of Strategic Brands, LLC has entered the fold with a bold claim: “We’re going to save the
Toys R Us has released an official press release detailing their plan for closure. One thing to take note is there is a small chance that 200 stores could be saved and moved into the Canadian TRU division. It is yet to be seen if this will take place. As of today the company is moving towards the 60 day window to shutter the US division so lets hope a few can be saved. If Toys R Us closes, this will be a massive blow to the toy industry.
By now most of you should have seen the series final of Star Wars Rebels and what an ending we had. It was filled with wonder, tears and laughter. It was a fitting end to a beloved series and surprisingly, it did something remarkable. This is where you WANT to stop reading if you want to avoid spoilers (go watch it!).
For five years, we have covered the comics and toy industry, but the costs are catching up with us. Relying on advertising helps with some costs, but as we advance more and more, the amount of advertising we would need to fulfill our goal of spreading the love of collecting comics and toys becomes more than a site could handle and remain uncluttered, not to mention free of influence. That is why we are launching a Patreon for your assistance in funding our efforts.
Adam Warren lets other artists play with his creation, Empowered. Whenever a creator does so, we see how strong his stories are. I was drawn to this series when I saw Carla Speed McNeil attached to it. I didn’t delve into the first two issues, because life got in the way and all. Empowered &
While the new trilogy is falling flat, these Star Wars Story stand alone films are winning me over. In fact, Solo a Star Wars Story trailer has hit and im excited. Enough of me though, check it out below.
It's been long enough that I feel like I can get back to the task that I set for myself back when I last wrote Reviews of Old Comics on a weekly basis, the coverage of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the era that I got hooked on them. This issue is actually one that I didn't read until many years later. In the 1980s, Annuals were a little harder to come by than they are now. These were the days before comics were exclusively in comic shops. The direct market was still in its infancy, with DC still in the first year of it's line specifically for comic shops. Often, one wouldn't know an Annual was coming out until it was seen on the newsstand or spinner racks. Some vendors might not even carry the Annuals. Many times, the Annuals would be self-contained stories and if it was missed or overlooked, a reader wouldn't even realize it for months.
Toys R Us plans to close up to 182 stores as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan. Going-out-of-business sales are scheduled to begin in February and be completed in April. This is indeed a sad day for toy fans and for some the memories of loosing KB Toys is coming right back. God speed Toys R Us, we wish for the best and brace for the worst.
I hate reporting things like this but a while back one of our neighborhood comic shops had a storage break in. Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find is a staple destination in Charlotte NC and they need your help. Things like this just makes my blood boil and the thief’s got away with a good amount
Happy New Year folks! 2017 was a challenging year for us but we had some good times! 2018 should be even stronger for us and we wish you all the best! Now for some website news. As I mentioned, it has been a challenging year for us on Needless Essentials. As you have seen, posts
We get lots of previews of comics from smaller publishers, and Atlas & Axis seemed like another one of those, but it's a case of Titan Comics helping bring another well-crafted translated comic to America.
